The Federation House Commitment

The Federation House Commitment banner

Are you a Food or Drink company interested in reducing your environmental impact while reducing costs? If so, then the Federation House Commitment is for you.

The Federation House Commitment (FHC) aims to reduce overall water consumption across the Food and Drink Industry by 20% by the year 2020.

The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) and resource efficiency experts Envirowise jointly developed the Federation House Commitment in response to Defra's Food Industry Sustainability Strategy (FISS). Any company across the Food and Drink Industry, large or small, can join the FHC.

By becoming an FHC Member, companies pledge to review their on-site water use and take action to reduce it. Envirowise will work with FHC Members to develop action plans to significantly cut water use and costs, and will provide a package of support measures to help Members meet water reduction targets and achieve cost savings.

FHC will help the Food and Drink Sector to become a leader in national efforts to improve water efficiency. All food and drink companies are urged to join the FHC. In doing so, companies will be helping to improve environmental efficiency and increasing their profits at the bottom line.

FHC was launched on the 28th of January with endorsements from Lord Rooker, Minister for Sustainable Food and Farming and Animal Health, Fiona Dawson, Managing Director of Mars Snackfood UK, and Ian Ferguson, CEO of Tate & Lyle. More than 20 companies have already joined.
