This guide presents simple benchmarks for water use and effluent load discharged for three dairy sectors: fresh liquid milk; butter and cheese; and 'other' milk products. The benchmarks allow dairies to compare their performance in terms of water consumption and effluent generation (ie product loss) with the rest of their sector. Water saving tips and useful contacts are also given.
